A passionate, wholehearted performer known for her “vibrant cello playing” (The Whole Note), cellist Erika Nielsen has a multi-faceted career as a chamber musician, collaborative artist, orchestral player, and educator. Erika brings focused, heartfelt playing to every performance, with a musicianship that spans from Baroque and Classical traditions to contemporary and popular genres.
As a collaborative artist, Erika has had the privilege of performing with Kanye West, Julian Taylor, Sarah Shafey Tonia Evans Cianciulli, The Weather Station, Jennifer Castle, The Trews, JUNO Award winning Johnny Reid and JUNO Award winning Splash’N Boots. Her theatre credits include Onegin: The Musical, CHARLOTTE: A Tri-Coloured Play with Music and The Golden Record. Erika is also quite active as a studio musician in the Toronto area.
Erika performs as a soloist, as a duo, with her string quartet and also with the Resonance Baroque Ensemble.
